Too bad us poor working families had to miss all the fun fun fun! They could have at least stuck around until 6pm!
It is too bad that the activities weren't on a weekend, but the reason it was happening is that Brooklyn public schools were out for the day. A lot of parents with kids in public schools end up taking the day off because of that. Those with younger kids, of course, usually have them in care that is open on Brooklyn-Queens Anniversary Day.
