Signing Off: Thank You

What started as a small hobby during my son's nap-time has become something to which I've become very attached.  Doing this blog has helped me to learn so much more about Sunset Park than I would  have known just from living here.

I hope that the posts I've put up have been informative and helpful to residents of Sunset Park, and I sincerely wish for more information outlets to develop for this neighborhood.  While The Brooklyn Eagle often gives time to events and news, we rarely get mentioned in The Brooklyn Paper (still no crime blotter for us?) or other more major papers unless it has to do with violence or prostitution.  Even then, we're often ignored.  Sunset Park Chronicled, a recent blog started by a CUNY journalism student, is the only place I've found news about the Thanksgiving shooting murder.

Anyway, hopefully there will be new blogs to disseminate things like library events, park clean-ups, music in the Rec Center, summer events sponsored by The Friends of Sunset Park, food and toy drives by CB 7 (collecting toys right now!), and other positive developments.  For example, the Friends of Sunset Park and the Rec Center staff are putting on a tree lighting ceremony on Friday night (Read more here). Check out the links on the right side for more Sunset Park weblogs.

In the meantime, I'm leaving the site up so that it can be searched for various tidbits of information.  Thank you so much to the people who have been helpful and supportive in keeping up this amazing hobby.  It has been a pleasure.

I will miss your blog terribly. Your posts were so articulate and understated, and the links were very valuable. You are a tremendous asset to Sunset Park. Thank you for everything!

You'll be missed. Thanks for inspiring me to look outside myself and become more involved in the community. Best of luck in your new situation.

Thank you for your diligent and thoughtful attention to our neighborhood. The pieces you posted here were invaluable our decision to move to the neighborhood in the first place.

Your insight and pulse-taking will be very much missed. Thank you for all your work.

Thank you for your service to our community. You have helped me to connect to the neighbourhood and made me feel more at home here. I wish you the best in everything you take on in the future. I'm sure I'll see you at community events, but as in the past I'll have no idea you are BViB. I hope you keep posting comments to Chronicled.

Best of luck--you will be missed. My neighbor was just saying this morning that she wished someone could continue the blog in your absence--though it would be hard to equal the job you've done!

Thank you caring for the neighborhood not many knew anything about. You have helped make a neighborhood a community with helpful post, list, links, photos, and general information.

I applaud your efforts and wish you all the best on your latest journey.

What! No! Waaaaaaaaaah! But seriously, thank you for this blog. Like others, it's been invaluable to help me get to know my neighborhood and has become a regular surfing destination. I'm going to be a bit lost without it.

Noooo!!!!!!! (temper tantrum).. thank you for such a great site. Everything you've written about was fairly represented (you always accepted everyone's views/input). It was great to know that others care just as much about our neighborhood. Although I've never met you, glad to know I have probably walked by such a great neighbor!! Best of luck in all you pursue. A photo now and then would be cool lol. ciao! god bless

To quote a current donation plea from Wikipedia, "There's never a day without Wikipedia." I'd like to add to that and say, "There's never a day without Best View in Brooklyn."
That being said, I just donated to Wikipedia because I value what they've done. Similarly, I value what you've done here and if you had a Wikipedia/NPR style donation drive I'd be the first in line with my PayPal account.
You've built up a valuable local media outlet for the Sunset Park community. I hope to support it's growth into the future.

Thanks for the blogging. BTW, did I miss the part where you explain why you are dropping the blog? Are you moving out of the nabe?

Just stumbled on your blog after a long hiatus myself for some personal reasons. Now that I have started to blog again I am rather disturbed that the "other" Sunset Park Blog has ceased publication. Hopefully you will return, if only on a sporadic basis. Hope you find it in you to pick up the blog again at some future point. In the meantime, Happy holidays from The Sunset Park Blog...

Your blog was good and it will be missed.

Maybe you could write something every two months? Even an infrequent comment every once in a while would be appreciated.

I haven't even lived in the state for seven months and I haven't been able to stop reading. Thank you for sharing your gift with us.

That is such sad news.
Will miss your writing and your photos.
Am hopeful that you will be back very, very soon.

Wow. I moved from Sunset Park on 12/1 (defected to Manhattan) but I still love that 'hood and wanted to check in to see what was happening. Hopefully, SP will give you something to want to write about very soon.

Wow, I am sorry that you're "signing off" but sometimes we gotta move on. Your blog on Sunset Park has been amazing and a great service to the community. And I also thank you on a personal level for being so supportive of my photography. Stay well and good luck with your next adventure!

We're still feeling the void. The other blogs just don't have your vibe. Hope you are well and enjoying your time.

Hi there, I’ve been reading some of your blog entries the past few weeks and I think my team and I can give you the kind of
content you need. Obviously, as a blog host, you know that engaging and captivating content is the only thing that keeps people coming back for more.So here’s my
question to you: if you had access to a small but growing and elite group of top-notch writers from North America, Europe, Oceania and Asia who have
contributed (in a small way) to the success of Facebook, Intuit, ISKCON, Greenpeace International, Alamy Images and other major organizations, and could give you a
steady stream of content ranging from articles to infographics to videos, would you be interested in a meeting to discuss possibilities?

If you just caught yourself nodding your head subconsciously, please get in touch with me by email on content@keydifference.com or
Skype me at content.key and we’ll talk synergy!
