Need a Job? Weary of Litter?

A couple of quick links for your perusal:

Be a prison warden in the neighborhood.
Easy commute, terrorists, mobsters, scandal. Want to live in an HBO series? Here's your chance. From the Brooklyn Eagle.

A reader wrote in to ask that I post the on-line form to request litter baskets. If you find that you go blocks and blocks without having anywhere to drop your trash (It's not nice to drop your trash into a neighbor's bin - especially if they haven't put a liner in.), here's your chance to add a basket to the neighborhood. This can also be used to report damaged or stolen baskets.

In that same vein, there is a new blog called Let's Clean Sunset Park! It's pretty self-explanatory, and it's definitely a personal response to poop, litter, and what residents can do to make the parks in Sunset Park cleaner.

i like! i been talking about the lack of bins in sunset park for months! and when you do find one its full. they need larger ones (like the ones in slope and ridge). they also need to service them more frequently.

So happy! Our cans constantly "go missing". 311 probably thinks I'm taking them, I call them so often to get them replaced.

Great! I have had to carry trash in my purse because of the lack of bins. My daughter has even brought up how iother areas have trash bins everywhere but we have to go into someone's stoop to throw something out. .. She is six.

I just got a message from the DOS saying the refuse to put cans out on the intersection I complained about because they've been stolen "seven, eight times." Isn't this their JOB?? The residents of my block have to suffer now.

Wow. I'd forward that message (email?) to CB7. There's a link on the right side of BViB.

Also, if you know of other like-minded neighbors, encourage them to call/write as well.

If I remember, you live on/near 4th. There is a definite need for more trash cans on 4th.

Good luck!

Agreed. I emailed CB7 as well as Marty Markowitz's office. I'm floored at the rudeness of the call (no name just "yeah, I put cans there 7 or 8 times, I'm not putting out anymore" - CLICK).

try calling 311 to make a request for more bins. With other issues like potholes, they respond quickly.
