If you want a cheap, tasty meal, order a soup and pancake from PD on 8th and 44th. $2 total and quite filling.
Here's a more detailed description from the blog Cherry Patter.
Goings-on in and around Sunset Park.

I love the color and the subject matter in this photo. Check out more from Venus_In_Furs and the BViB photo pool here.
Thanks to lostinbrooklyn for uploading this to the BViB photo pool. Also, on his twitter stream (is that what it's called?), this showed up:
@lostinbrooklyn Battle of Brooklyn @ Green-Wood pix online http://tinyurl.com/bobgreenwood2009
Check out the photos.
Melody Lanes is famous for its bartender, but it's the "colored lights" that keep people coming back. Thanks to calamity_sal for adding this to the BViB photo pool. Click on the photo to see more.
Bonus points to anyone who can identify the literary reference of "colored lights."
Thanks to kittylittered (who has a fantastic photoblog - New York Portraits) on flickr for uploading this to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool. The sky was amazing. So were the itsy bitsy pieces of hail that fell from the heavens.
Once again, we thank Vanessa from veesvision for uploading this to the BViB photo pool. I like the contrasts of color, as well as the subjects. Chainlink as a background to flowers and butterflies always work.
Vanessa from veesvision uploaded this to the BViB photo pool. Solid looking buddy. Apparently, this dog was waiting for its human friend to come out of a store. I wonder if he wants a dog run in the park.

And this one is mine, taken just over a week ago. Now he has a tracking sticker on his hat, and a bottle of Yellowtail behind him. He hasn't touched his root beer. Not to worry anti-gentrifiers, and sorry to break it to you coffee-shop-desirers, it's where they roast the coffee. Where you drink the Gorilla coffee is far to the north.
Thanks for Buendiaproductions for uploading this photo to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool on flickr.com. Check out his website for some fantastic posts and photos about Sunset Park.
First, you have an example of the paid for murals. They are usually in memoriam, but sometimes commissioned, or at least allowed, by a bank or a store. This one is on 46th and 5th. There is a large memorial portrait next to it.
Then you have your more typical graffiti, although, compared to most of what's around Sunset Park, this is stellar. I am not quite sure if it's an evil Pluto the dog, a rat, or an angry rabbit. Anyone know?
And then we've got a few stencilled works. This one is Mexican, judging from the DF reference. Was Mario Mexican? I never played the game, but I thought he was Italian. Maybe it's his look-alike cousin.

This photo of Our Lady of Perpetual Help was added to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool by Pro-Zak. Its haunting version of the cathedral is stunning.
This photo is such a tease. Make sure to click on the photo to see it larger. This was added to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool by John Niedermeyer. An even better option is to stop by the BViB photo pool and click on the view it larger link of this photo.
mintyfreshflavor added this to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool. It's a great photo of some of the items we see while traipsing up and down 8th Avenue. I just wish it came with translation. Can anyone help out? With the lack of sunshine promised for the week, we'll need to find it in other ways. Here's a ray or two from mnwpng, who added this to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool.
This is Industrial Beauty. For those of us who occasionally (or often) venture down to 1st and 2nd Avenues, the lines and lines of windows are intriguing. In many buildings, it seems like it's deserted inside until a shadow passes by the window pane or someone actually leaves or enters the building.
This comes from adi_01 in the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool. If you have great Sunset Park photos, join the flickr group and add your photos!
From the BViB photo pool and herrC comes this little guy. Very sweet.
This photo comes from ext212 on Flickr (click on the photo to see more); she has a photostream that shows some yummy looking tacos from Matamoros on 5th Avenue and 45th. Enjoy.
If you have cool Sunset Park photos, consider adding them to the Best View in Brooklyn photo pool on flickr. We'd all love to see them!
This is from the new photo pool for Best View in Brooklyn. Join up and add your Sunset Park photos! This photo comes from veesvision, who has offered up several fantastic photographs in the past.
She says, "I have lived in Sunset Park for many years. This bumper sticker has always been there. (7th ave btw 46 & 47 st) I shot it because it might not be there the next time I walk past it."
Where can we get these bumper stickers? CafePress?
