Post Article Highlights Sunset Park Van Thief Turned Informant

That's what we like to see. He wanted to steal a seemingly abandoned van, but instead, he reported "strange substances" found inside the van. Today's Post has the details.

The van was "found" on 2nd Avenue and 53rd Street, and the helpful thief drove it to a more desolate area behind CostCo (uhhhh, not desolate during CostCo's open hours!) to, presumably, protect the residents of 53rd Street and Lutheran.

That's amazing! So is the Post really reporting here that an actual _car bomb_ was defused? And that it was parked in Sunset Park? OK SP, you've jumped the shark. BTW, anyone want to speculate on why an abandoned van was left for over a month without being investigated? Everyone who's ever gotten a parking ticket for missing alternate side of the street parking raise their hand! Big WTF all around...

I wondered the same thing. Did the would-be thief SAY he'd been staking it out for the taking for a month, or had the van been collecting tickets for a month? Either way, you'd htink an "abandoned" van would get some notice. Sheesh.
